5 Ways To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

5 Ways To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

By Guest Blogger Mark Ling

More than 99 percent of the power you have in this world, comes down to how your subconscious mind has been programmed.

Whether you’re a world-class tennis player or a 5-year-old child who knows how to read 20 words, everything that you become proficient in this world is programmed and ingrained into your subconscious mind.

Even the tasks we take for granted, such as being able to walk, catching a ball when it is thrown to us, speaking English, what we choose to eat, and more… Even our beliefs about the world and how it works, including our beliefs about ourselves… All of this resides in the subconscious.

What’s so remarkable is that how your inner world operates, directly reflects what happens in your outer world.

People who have programmed their subconscious with strong thought processes around money, invariably become millionaires…

…Athletes who hone their skills down to the minute detail can perform incredible acts of athleticism under pressure…

…And people who train their subconscious to be grateful for everything they have in this world, tend to live a life full of happiness and inner peace.

So… If the subconscious is so important… Why do very few people focus on harnessing the power of it?

The truth is, most great things in life are just outside your comfort zone.

If something takes more than a week to achieve some success, then people regularly move on to the next thing that interests them, or they try something new.

As a rule of thumb, many subconscious habits and skills can be formed in 21 days. However, most important subconscious habits and beliefs take 90 days.

Lets say for instance that you’re not happy with your level of health, or the size of your waist. So you decide that you want to eat more vegetables.

You could choose to say an affirmation every day for 5 minutes a day, every day for 90 days (along with actually eating more vegetables each day). That affirmation could be “Every day I LOVE eating vegetables more and more. Vegetables fuel my body and make me feel great.”

Imagine, that’s all you need to do in order to live an extra 10-20 years longer, experience a life of great health, and feel more energetic and happier long term… Would you do it?

Most people say yes, but within 7 days they’ve stopped.

I challenge you to take up a 90-day challenge to pick just ONE habit that you’d like to change in your life, one exciting one, one that will change your life for the better, and spend just 5 minutes a day doing what it takes to achieve that habit.

Here are 5 different options for things that you can do in order to reprogram your subconscious mind, depending what you are trying to achieve…

1. Affirmations

This one is my favorite because affirmations work, whether or not you believe in what you are saying. It’s like taking a drop of red dye and dropping it into a bucket of water… Sooner or later the bucket will turn red.

If you can pick a positive affirmation statement and say it out loud for 5 minutes a day, every day for 90 days, you can reprogram any of your minds thought processes to become something that is going to serve you well for a life of success and happiness.

2. Physical Practice

If what you’re trying to achieve is something physically related, for instance you want to change your backhand in tennis, or the way you put at golf. Then the new swing that you have, needs to become ingrained in your subconscious, and that takes daily practice.

Every day, 5 minutes a day for 90 days.

That works a LOT better than 1 hours practice, once a week. The path to the subconscious is through sleep. Every night when you sleep, your brain looks at what has gone through your conscious mind throughout the day, and the more separate days that you repeat a habit, the more deeply it etches itself into your subconscious mind.

That old saying “practice makes perfect” is totally true. But remember it’s not about the cumulative amount of time that gets put in. Short amount of time, every day, is vastly more effective than to lump all that time together in a single day each week.

3. Visualization

Your mind cannot easily distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. So when you visualize your own success at a particular goal, and you do that repeatedly every day, you train your mind to subconsciously guide you to that success as it already believes it should happen.

In a study conducted at the University of Chicago, by Dr. Biasiotto, he split people into three groups and tested them on how many free throws that they could make.

Following this, he got the first group to practice making free throws every day for an hour, for 30 days in a row.

He got the second group to practice VISUALIZING making free throws every day for an hour, for 30 days in a row.

And he got the third group to do nothing for the 30 days, other than their regular exercise and basketball play.

After 30 days, he retested them.

The first group improved their free throw percentage by 24%.

The second group (visualization) improved their free throw percentage by 23% (This was without touching a basketball!)

And as expected, the third group showed no improvement.

Many practicers of the “Law of Attraction” use visualization to manifest the life of their dreams. Whether it’s the universe ‘giving’ it to them, or whether it’s their subconscious mind, that has been reprogrammed on this new path to success, it’s hard to prove. But the key is that visualization has worked wonders for thousands of people, athletes, entrepreneurs, and other goal setters alike.

4. Change the layout of your home

When you make certain things easier and more likely to be seen, you find yourself doing them more often.

For instance, if you have an exercycle or fitness resistance bands, laying around in your living room, you are more likely to exercise while watching TV, than if you have to go get them out of a cupboard in your garage.

If you put up a framed picture of your affirmation statement for the next 90 days, displayed right next to your bed, you’ll be more likely to do it each day.

If you place fruit in fruit bowls, and cook up two nights dinners at once, you might find yourself eating healthier than if these items are stored away in cupboard or in the fridge, requiring effort for you to get them out and prepare them for consumption.

Make it easy to keep the habits that you want to keep and within 90 days, those positive habits will be so ingrained, you’ll never want to change them.

5. Meditation or listening to self hypnosis tracks

Both meditation (unassisted) or listening to self hypnosis tracks, are very similar. When you calm your mind, either through silence, or listening to music, or listening to binaural beats, you mentally shift your mind out of your regular Beta waves, which are used for conscious thinking, and move them into Alpha, Theta and sometimes Delta waves, which are all more direct paths to your subconscious mind.

There are many other health benefits of meditation including reducing stress, improving concentration, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, increased happiness, slowed aging, benefits to your cardiovascular and immune health, and more.

In a nutshell

If you can take one thing out of this article, I recommend that you take this…

Most great things in life are just outside your comfort zone. The path to success with any great thing in life is reprogramming your subconscious mind. You can totally reprogram your mind for one belief, habit or skill, with just 5 minutes a day for 90 days.

Are you willing to give yourself the 90 day challenge?

I highly recommend that you do!
